Two healthcare educational tracks are offered at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, providing options and flexibility.
In-person, online and hybrid classes at the Medical Career Academy cover a broad range of medical careers. Some are clinical medical technician, pharmacy technician and medical admin assistant. Academy students participate in an externship at a local medical facility for hands-on experience of the role and responsibilities. Programs can be completed in a matter of months. Graduates have access to employers and job opportunities.
The Center for Professional Education provides training for health sector and fitness professions. All courses are online and typically take six to 18 months to complete, depending on the program. Participants are prepared to support opticians, long-term care facilities, dentists, medical offices and physical rehabilitation centers. Similar and different programs are available at Chattanooga State Community College.
Chattanooga State is also home to a full-time practical nursing program. In 12 months, graduates are prepared to pass the NCLEX-PN test. The diploma program, which has a 95% job placement rating, includes fundamental concepts and skills for nursing.
