Public and Private Education Options

Hamilton County Public Schools in the Hixson-Red Bank area include Red Bank Elementary, Red Bank Middle School, Red Bank High School, Rivermont Elementary School, Dupont Elementary School, Hixson Elementary School, Hixson Middle School and Hixson High School, all of which have low student to teacher ratios, so you know that your child will receive the best possible education. Here, your child is not just a number in the system. In addition, St. Jude School is a Catholic school with approximately 325 students from grades PK3-8. Berean Academy is a private school sponsored by the Berean Baptist Church with an estimated 310 students from preschool through high school.

The nearby magnet school Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts in northern Chattanooga was ranked the No. 1 Public High School in the Chattanooga area by Niche in 2021.

Exploring Hixson-Red Bank

From outdoor activities to shopping options to a delicious array of dining choices, Red Bank and Hixson truly have something for everyone to enjoy. Located right next to Signal Mountain, Red Bank offers incredible space for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, fishing and paddling – while taking in the amazing views from the top of the mountain’s lookout points. Red Bank Dog Park is the perfect place to bring your furry friend along for some exercise, and Vandergriff Park has a wonderful playground that kids will love. Stringers Ridge Park at the southern end of Red Bank is a historic 92-acre forested park in the midst of urban Chattanooga where visitors can hike or mountain bike through a dense forest.

Golfing enthusiasts will love this community for its close proximity to many beautiful golfing properties, including Creeks Bend Golf Club, Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and Moccasin Bend Golf Course. Looking for something a bit more out-of-the-box? Try disc golf at The Sinks Disc Golf Course – an eighteen-hole course that swaps out golf balls for Frisbees. The Northgate Mall is just seven minutes away from downtown Hixson, offering over 60 specialty stores and a variety of dining options for visitors to enjoy.

In Red Bank, you can grab a bite to eat or a coffee at cafes and bakeries like Be Caffeinated and Bread and Butter. Looking for a heartier meal? Getting Around Hixson-Red Bank

While both Hixson and Red Bank are both walkable communities with well-maintained sidewalks, the best way to get around each community is by car. You can make it downtown in just 12 minutes, or to the Chattanooga Airport in about 15-20 minutes. The CARTA bus system has a route that runs from downtown Chattanooga to the Northgate mall, right next to Hixson. Commuters can park at the mall’s bus stop and ride into Chattanooga with ease.
